Off to the World Cup thanks to Visa and NICU

It was a huge surprise to long time Northern Inland Credit Union Member, Mandy Leys, when she received a call last week to say she had won a trip to Russia to attend the upcoming FIFA World Cup Final.

Northern Inland’s Gunnedah Branch Manager, Jen Elphick informed Mrs Leys that just by
making contactless payWave transactions with her Northern Inland Credit Union Visa Debit
card, she had been randomly selected to receive the amazing prize package from Visa and
CUSCAL worth up to $30,000.

“I was completely stunned, disbelieving at first. Ironically, normally you know when you have entered a competition, so I thought Jen was having a joke with me,” said Mrs Leys.
Mrs Leys and her husband, Sam, were stoked with the surprise win and decided to gift the prize package to two of their four children.

“Even though we aren’t going we will get a huge amount of pleasure out of our children going,” Mrs Leys said.

The Visa promotional campaign run by CUSCAL in the months of March and April, meant all
Northern Inland Credit Union Members making contactless payments with their Visa credit or debit cards were entered into a draw to win the FIFA World Cup Final prize package in July 2018.

“Thousands of other customers from 25 mutual financial institutions both large national banks and smaller credit unions were in the mix to be drawn out of the hat,” said Northern Inland Credit Union CEO Derek McIntyre.

“Millions of active cards were used over the two month campaign period and included
contactless transactions through Google and Apple Pay along with payWave transactions like Mrs Leys,’ Mr McIntyre said.

“We like to embrace these kinds of campaigns for our Members, but it is always a long shot as to whether Northern Inland will end up with the lucky winner,” Mr McIntyre said.

The once-in-a-lifetime prize package worth up to $30,000 includes delux accommodation for 5 days/ 4 nights at Moscow Marriott Hotel, return flights, FIFA category 1 match tickets with pre-match hospitality, a group activity / tour, plus a Visa prepaid product with $450 USD.
